Yo Gotti Says 50 Cent Advised Him To Rename Cocaine Muzik Group

In an extensive new interview about his career and record label, Yo Gotti reveals that 50 Cent gave him some integral advice that led him to change the name of his label.

After Gotti signed a deal with Epic Records in 2013, CMG decided to rename it to Cocaine Muzik Group. He said the original name was an allusion to “addiction”. About music released by the label, but a phone call with Fife eventually prompted him to go with something less abrasive.

“I was having a [phone] conversation with 50 Cent, and he was like, ‘Yo, you’re winning, but you can’t be the cocaine Muzik group — it’s too harsh. They’re gonna be scared of it,'” Gotti recalled.” [I] thought about it, ‘Hey, that’s right. ‘ He put it in my mind to think in that direction.
