Nearly 30 years after his death, Jeffrey Dahmer is still a household name. But there is one name that was instrumental in his capture which was largely ignored till now. Netflix’s Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story isn’t just a mini-series about the Milwaukee monster. This is one of the first projects regarding the matter to bring a special focus to Glenda Cleveland.
Jeffrey Dahmer was arrested two months ago
One of Dahmer’s neighbors, Cleveland, was one of the first. who had some doubts about Dahmer. Had to contact the authorities about that. It is reasonable to think that if police had listened to Cleveland, Jeffrey Dahmer would have been arrested two months earlier and five of his victims would have been spared. Portrayed by Niecy Nash in the Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan miniseries, Cleveland stands out as one of the most heroic figures in the matter. Which you’ve never heard of.

Although the Dahmar story is well known, most versions do not mention this important figure by name. Glenda Cleveland was one of Jeffrey Dahmer’s neighbors, who also lived in an Oxford apartment in Milwaukee, Wis. The campus was in a predominantly black neighborhood where white religion stood out. The real tragedy of the case is not just that Dahr was responsible for the murders of 17 boys and men. This is what the authorities were told. That at times something was wrong, and yet, because of the racism and homosexuality of the police force, those warnings were ignored. Cleveland was one of the loudest of these rejected voices.
asphalt to your landlord first
Cleveland was the first to alert its landlord to a strange smell and sound emanating from the asphalt apartment. But he did not contact the police till May 1991. Cleveland was among three distressed women who discovered a 14-year-old Konerk synthsymphone just off North 25th Street. At that time, the Laotian teenager was completely naked and inconsolable.
He later learned that the synthasomphone’s inability to speak was due to the fact that Dahmer had drilled a hole in his head and filled it with hydrochloric acid. The serial killer lured the model to take the synthsomphon to his apartment by promising him money. Dahmer later claimed that his victim made it through only two poses. Before he fainted because of the medicines given by that old man. Dahmer then sexually assaulted the boy. who later managed to escape from his apartment. Coincidentally and unbeknownst to Dahmer, Sinthasomphone was the younger brother of a boy. Dahmer was arrested on drug and sexual assault charges back in 1988.
Is Glenda Cleveland alive today?
Cleveland died on December 24, 2010 at the age of 56. A medical examiner later announced that he died of natural causes due to heart disease and high blood pressure. Perhaps ironically, that was the Milwaukee police officer. who found Cleveland’s body after acting on the advice of a civilian.
Cleveland’s Common Council,
For its heroic actions, Cleveland was honored by Common Council, the County Board, and Mayor John Norquist. He also received awards for his involvement in the matter. Yet it was praised locally as much as Cleveland. It was written out of the larger narrative of the asphalt case.
