In the US, Lauren Smith-Fields, 23, of Connecticut, was killed by “extreme intoxication due to the combined effects of fentanyl, promethazine, hydroxyzine, and alcohol”. This death happened when she went on a date with a person on the dating app Bumble. Connecticut’s chief medical examiner said he found no evidence of dishonesty and treated his death as an accident.

Family members allege negligence

After Smith-Field’s December 12 death, it took the department two weeks to gather evidence. His family was not informed of his death until two days later.
