Telangana and Gujarat Ranked 7th in the Case of Suicide Let know-how

471 farmers committed suicide in Telangana and it was 7th in India. Maharashtra (4,006 cases) recorded the highest number of farmer suicides. It is followed by Karnataka (2016), Andhra Pradesh (889).

Every day many people in the country are forced to take a dreadful step like suicide. Some people take such a step due to external pressure. Some commit suicide due to the ongoing turmoil within the mind. In the year 2020, 3,765 people committed suicide by consuming poison. Maharashtra has the highest suicide rate. There has been an increase of 5 percent in suicide cases in Telangana as compared to 2019. In Telangana, 8,058 people committed suicide in 2020.

398 suicide cases were reported in Hyderabad

Reports of suicide in Telangana increased by 5 percent as compared to 2019. Hyderabad saw an increase of 2.3 percent. Bankruptcy or debt was the reason for 947 suicides in the state. Whereas no such case seen in the city. Marriage issues led to 104 suicides in the state, four in the city. There were 66 suicides in the state, 12 in the city due to failure in the examination. There were 4,190 suicides in Telangana and 122 in the city due to family problems.

Telangana ranks 7th in terms of suicide

There were 193 suicides in the state due to relationship issues. There were 26 suicides in the city while 23 in the state due to unemployment, eight in the city. 471 farmers committed suicide in Telangana and it ranks 7th in India. Gujarat also ranks 7th in terms of suicide. Maharashtra (4,006 cases) recorded the highest number of farmer suicides. It is followed by Karnataka (2016), Andhra Pradesh (889).

Maharashtra once again tops the list

Despite all the government efforts, the process of farmer suicides in the country does not seem to stop. In the year 2020, the cases of suicides of farmers (farmers and agricultural laborers) have increased by about 4 percent as compared to 2019. Whereas the cases of suicide of agricultural laborers have increased by 18 percent. Maharashtra once again leads the list with 4,006 suicides. After this, people associated with agriculture have committed suicide in Karnataka (2,016), Andhra Pradesh (889), Madhya Pradesh (735), and Chhattisgarh (537). These states were ahead of other states in this matter in 2019 as well.
