After being honored with the Arjuna Award, Indian batsman Shikhar Dhawan thanked his family, friends, and all those who supported him including the National Cricket Board (BCCI). 35-year-old Dhawan on Saturday honored with the Arjuna Award by President Ram Nath Kovind for his stellar performance in the game.

He was a medal winner in Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics. Players who were given Arjuna Award Among them are hockey female player Vandana Katariya, Monika, kabaddi player Sandi Narwal, shooter Abhishek Verma and para-badminton player Suhas Yathiraj. Apart from this, President Ram Nath Kovind presented the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award to 12 players, javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra, who made history by winning the gold medal in Tokyo Olympics.

Shikhar Dhawan got the award for the fastest run scorer

Delhi batsman Shikhar Dhawan has represented India in 145 ODIs. and has scored 6,105 runs at an average of 45.55 with 17 centuries and 33 half-centuries. He holds the record for being the fastest Indian to reach 2000 and 3000 runs in ODI cricket. He is also the second-fastest Indian to reach 4,000 and 5,000 runs in 50-over cricket.
