Shakespeare Globe Announces The Full Cast of The Tempest

Shakespeare’s Globe has announced the cast and company for a new production of The Tempest, directed by Sean Holmes, running this summer from July 22 – October 22. Shakespeare’s turbulent tale of reckoning and redemption will be brought to life by Globe Ensemble. Which thrilled the audience in the opening production of the critically acclaimed season. Which runs till 23 October.

Directed, Assistant Director with Naeem Hayat

The Tempest is designed by Paul Wills. Co-directed by Diane Page, with Naeem Hyatt as assistant director, Kaisi Kinoshi as a composer, and Rachel Nanyonjo as movement director.

Sean Holmes is Globe’s Associate Artistic Director. Where his recent directorial work includes A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Twelfth Night, and Hamlet as well as an ensemble cast of Henry VI and Richard III. Which he co-directed in the winter season of 2019. Prior to the Globes, Sean Lyric was the artistic director of Hammersmith. Where his works included The Seagull, Terror, Bugsy Malone, Cinderella, and Blast. For which he won the 2011 Olivier Award for Outstanding Achievement in an Affiliated Theatre. Bugsy Malone begins a major UK tour on 2 July at the Theater Royal Bath.

Winter Season Production of Hamlet, Midsummer Night’s Dream

Peter Bourke will play the role of Gonzalo. Peter is currently performing in Much Ado About Nothing at the Globes in the roles of Conrad and Fryer. Past productions at the Globes have included the winter season production of Hamlet, and the 2021 summer season productions of Twelfth Night and A Midsummer Night’s Dream – a role he reprised in 2019. Past theater credits include The Sea (Chichester); English game (head to head); Henry IV Parts I and II, Henry V, Perkin Warbeck (RSC); and The Browning Version and Harlequinade, The Elephant Man, The Provoked Wife and On the Razzle (National Theatre).

Rachel Hannah Clarke will play Ariel

Hannah Clarke will play Ariel. Rachel is currently performing in the roles of Margaret and Watchmen in Much Ado About Nothing at the Globes. Past productions at the Globes have included the winter season production of Hamlet, and the 2021 summer season productions of Twelfth Night and A Midsummer Night’s Dream – a role he repeated in 2019. Past theater credits include Do You Remember? (Royal Court); Queens of Sheba – Winner of The Stage Award (Vaults Festival / NewDyrama Theatre / Underbelly / Camden People’s Theatre); Hatch (Talawa Theater Company); and Best Friends (Ovalhouse).

George Fourakers will play Stefano. George is currently performing as Dogberry in Globe in Much Ado About Nothing. Past credits for the Globes include the winter season production of Hamlet, and the 2021 summer season productions of Twelfth Night and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. He is a member of the critically acclaimed sketch trio Daphne. Other credits include Gentleman (Fight in the Dog); A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Filter Theatre/Song Hammersmith); Doctorfaustus (Dot by Dot Theatre); Daphne’s second show and Daphne do Edinburgh (Edinburgh Festival).
