Retirement Age Of Doctors Will Increase By 5 Years

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has decided to increase the retirement age of doctors by 5 years. A proposal is being prepared for this. However, there is an atmosphere of happiness somewhere among the doctors regarding this decision of the Chief Minister. While a section of doctors is opposing it, a section is also excited by it.

The retirement age of doctors is currently 65 years. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has decided to increase it by 5 years to 70 years. The reduction in the number of doctors during the Corona period  considered as a major reason behind this decision of the Chief Minister. It is also being said that as the retirement age of doctors increases, maximum benefit of their experience can be taken. However, even before the implementation of this decision of the government, controversies have started. The Faculty Forum of Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow has opposed this decision of the Chief Minister. Forum members say that with ageing, many types of physical and mental problems start. Older doctors will not be able to treat patients better. Instead of benefiting the patients, it will only harm.

Also if this decision is applicable. So the seats of faculty member will not be able to increase for new students, due to which new doctors will not get a chance. The forum has decided to convene a general body meeting to register a protest in this matter. On the other hand, some doctors have also come in support of this decision. Such doctors say that people above 75 years of age are working in politics. In such a situation, if the doctor is healthy, then he too can work till the age of 70.

This System Will Be Implemented As Soon As It Is Approved By The Cabinet.

Meanwhile, the doctor who would like to take VRS at the age of 62. They will also  given the facility to retire. State Medical Education Minister Suresh Khanna says in this whole matter. That after retirement, doctors often open their own clinic or provide services in a big hospital. It is better that he continues his services for the government. The Medical Education Minister said that due to the shortage of doctors in the first and second wave of Corona, all the problems  seen. We need more doctors and their experience, so such a proposal has been made. He said that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has given his consent to this proposal. And soon it will presented in the cabinet. This system will be implemented as soon as it gets approval from the cabinet. Earlier in the year 2018 also, the government had made a proposal to increase the retirement age of doctors by 5 years to 70 years, but due to some reason it could not be presented in the cabinet.
