Rassie van der Dussen Biography, Stats, and Latest News
Hendrik Erasmus “Racy” van der Dussen (born 7 February 1989) is a South African professional cricketer who represents the South African national cricket team and plays for Gauteng in domestic cricket. But Rassie van der Dussen is unfortunate not to have played for the national team – due to the abundance of all-rounders, the quota system, or otherwise.

Van der Dussen averages over 40 in first-class cricket and List-A cricket and has a relatively low scoring rate in T20s. He is a rare breed of bowler – a part-time leggie, and can go for a few runs but has a knack for taking wickets. If his bowling skills can be improved, van der Dussen is likely to be on the radar for a national call-up even at the brink of 30.
Van der Dussen made his debut against Pakistan in January 2019. Performing consistently well in the next few series, he claimed a ticket to the mega event in England. Rassie van der Dussen’s career map is similar to that of his captain Faf du Plessis.
Overlooked as a youngster, he was brought into the team just before the World Cup to give some stability to the batting line-up. Faf did it in 2011 and van der Dussen is doing it in 2019. And now find themselves playing the biggest tournament of their lives. However, he has around 100 List-A matches to his name.
He was drafted into the 2018 Caribbean Premier League as an injury replacement for St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, having been selected on merit after scoring an unprecedented 959 runs in 10 matches in the 2017/18 Sunfoil series.
He was also selected by the Vancouver Knights for the inaugural Global T20 League in Canada. The latter made the cut for the Highveld Lions after showing greater quickness in scoring, bringing about a true revolution in his T20 game.
