Kohli on Thursday shared a picture with Dhoni on Twitter to wish Dhoni. “Legendary captaincy stint in the yellow jersey. Chapter fans will never forget. Will always respected,” Kohli wrote alongside the picture posted. Chennai has issued an official statement saying that Dhoni has decided to step down as captain, but Captain Cool will continue to represent CSK this season and beyond. IPL 2022 will start on 26 March and the first match will be with Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders.

Many captaincy records were recorde in the name of Dhoni.

MS Dhoni has played 220 matches in IPL so far, in which 4746 runs have been scored from his bat. He has scored runs in IPL at an average of 39.55 and strike rate of 135.83. Till now he has not been able to score any century in IPL, but 23 half-centuries have come out with his bat. His highest score is 84 not out. Dhoni has hit 219 sixes in IPL so far and he has hit 325 fours. The special thing is that under the captaincy of Dhoni, the team of Chennai became the champion of IPL 4 times while reaching the final of IPL 8 times. Apart from this, the team of Chennai reached the playoffs a record 11 times under the leadership of Dhoni.
