Lowa Women Basketball Recruit Father Dies After Being Hit by a Car

Trey Jones, the father of Iowa women’s basketball recruit Ava Jones, died Thursday at a Louisville hospital. Two days later he, along with two other family members, was seriously injured after being hit by a vehicle.

The news of his death was made public on Friday.

Ava Jones, a rising high school senior from Kansas, verbally committed to Iowa on Sunday. His mother remains in critical condition with Amy. Ava’s younger brother, Creek, suffered minor injuries.
