Kim Kardashian Honored at CFDA Awards Called For Inclusivity

Kim Kardashian was honored for her shapewear line at Monday’s annual Council of Fashion Designers of America Fashion Awards and used the honor to call on designers to be inclusive for all body shapes.

NEW YORK (AP) – Kim Kardashian honored for her shapewear line at the Council of Fashion Designers of America Fashion Awards on Monday, and she used the honor to call on designers to be inclusive of all body shapes. To Kardashian Awarded with the first Innovation Award presented by Amazon Fashion for their shapewear brand SKIMS. Co-founder and CEO Jens Grade and founding partner and Chief Product Officer Emma Grade also joined Kardashian to receive the inaugural award.

The fashion industry’s equivalent of the Oscars held in person on Monday night and hosted by designers and CFDA members Joseph Altuzarra, Gabriella Hearst, Aurora James, Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough. Kardashian told a starry audience “Since our launch, we have focused on shaping the industry to embrace size equality and diversity as a sustainability and I think many of you are doing the same.” His sisters Khloe and Kendall and his mom, Kris Jenner, included.

Who had to make a quick announcement when a phone rang just before speaking. “Mom, get off your phone,” Kardashian asked Jenner to laughter from the audience. Kardashian fully represented on the show, with Jenner, Khloe Kardashian and Kendall Jenner watching as their sister acknowledged their respect Bradley Cooper, Trevor Noah, Amy Schumer, Christina Ricci and Kerry Washington were among the presenters on the night when various designers took home trophies and Lenny Kravitz received the CFDA’s Fashion Icon Award.

Accessories Design Award

Last year, Zendaya was the youngest person to win the Icon Award. Past recipients have included Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Pharrell Williams, Rihanna and Jennifer Lopez. Cher also made a surprise appearance to honor stylist Patti Wilson. “Fashion is meant to be fun and intimidating and Patti Wilson is fearless,” said Cher. The Accessory Design award went to Raul Lopez and the American Emerging Designer award went to Elena Velez. In the American Designer categories, Katherine Holstein won womenswear for Khaite. Won the award and Emily Adams Bode Aujla won the award for Menswear Designer.
