Screenwriter Leslie Patterson has revealed that the Harry Potter actor was set to play Paul Baumer in one of his first film projects after the Wizardry franchise ended in 2011, reports Female First UK.

Leslie told the ‘Daily Mirror’ newspaper: “16 years ago when we optioned the book, the landscape was very different. There’s no way you do a German-language film and raise money for it.”

“So we decided very quickly, we probably have to present it as speaking English with a German accent. And we thought, ‘What names are going to raise finance?’ And at the time, Daniel Radcliffe was coming out behind Harry Potter,” Lesley said. According to ‘Female First UK’, Leslie explained how Danielle’s name alone was not enough to raise funds for the film as it was the ‘Harry Potter brand that had made her so famous.

The 42-year-old triathlete said: “We realized very quickly that although he is an amazing actor, he was not the right fit for it and his name didn’t really raise any finance.”
