The beloved romcom is back like it never left – here are the new and upcoming ones you need to swoon over right away.
In the age of TV and film, which deals with true crime, murder and espionage
If you said 2022 would be the year of the romcom renaissance, we wouldn’t have believed you initially. In the age of TV and film, which is becoming increasingly obsessed with true crime, murder, and espionage, it’s hard to believe that the beloved old romantic comedy is having its heyday as we speak.
The actors made their romantic comeback this year
While famous actors including Sandra Bullock and Julia Roberts have made their romantic comebacks this year, the genre is full of new and recognizable acting talent. Gone are the days when romcoms were completely obsessed with one-of-a-kind plot twists. While we’ve loved The Lost City lately, reveled in the fact that we’re getting another installment of BBC’s Starstruck and have gotten a little obsessed with Emma Thompson in Good Luck To You, Leo Grande, Keep in mind that there are still many more upcoming romcoms out there.
New and Upcoming Romantic Comedy
If you’ve been on social media anywhere lately, you’ll know that a romantic drama is getting all the attention — and for good reason. It’s got everything we’d want from a classic romcom: teen angst, the ever-present “Won’t They?” Running questions through it and a love triangle that will keep you guessing until the final episode.
A second season confirmed, even before premiere
The coming-of-age drama is based on the novel of the same name by Jenny Han (To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before) and stars Lola Tung as Isabel “Bailey” Conklin. Of course, we were hoping the series would be renewed—given that the book is part of a beloved trilogy of YA novels—and happily even before the series premiered, a second season had been confirmed. Trust us, though, those seven episodes will pass by in a joyous flash.
