A big ruckus has arisen over the controversial poster and now the matter has reached the police.

Delhi Police registers FIR on poster dispute

According to new information, the IFSO unit of Delhi Police has taken action on the controversial poster of the film Maa Kali. Delhi Police has registered an FIR under sections 153A and 295A. Actually, the Delhi Police had received two complaints on the poster dispute with the black mother. One complaint from New Delhi district and the other from IFSO, which deals with cybercrime.

The IFSO unit has registered a case against Leena Manimekalai, director of the film Kali, on charges of inciting religion on the basis of caste and IPC 295A i.e. hurting the sentiments of any class, religion. At the same time, New Delhi Police is still investigating on the complaint of New Delhi District. Will try to contact the director through email or notice if needed and inquire.

Case registered in UP too

The UP Police has also registered an FIR against Leena Manimekalai, the producer of the film ‘Kali’ for her derogatory portrayal of Hindu deities. In the FIR, several charges leveled against filmmaker Leena Manimekalai including criminal conspiracy, hurting religious sentiments, intent to disturb the peace through derogatory portrayal of a Hindu goddess.

Filmmaker Leena Manimekalai shared the poster of her documentary film on July 2. In the poster, the mother was seen smoking a black cigarette and in one of her hands the flag of the LGBT community is shown. After such a poster of Maa Kali came to the fore, people strongly opposed it and accused the poster of hurting religious sentiments. Many people also demanded the arrest of filmmaker Leena Manimekalai. This whole matter has now reached the police. Delhi and UP Police have registered an FIR in this matter.

Filmmaker Leena Manimekalai gave her reaction by tweeting on the controversy over the poster of the film. He said- The film revolves around the events that take place that evening when Kali appears and walks the streets of Toronto.
