Former India off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has said veteran Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan is quite fit and at the age of 36, he looks as young as 23-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan. There were some question marks over Dhawan’s inclusion in India’s ODI squad for the tour of South Africa after a poor performance in the domestic tournament. However, Dhawan made an impressive comeback with scores of 79, 29, and 61 and was India’s leading run-scorer in the three-match ODI series against South Africa, in which India lost 0–3.
Very happy with the return of legendary spinner Harbhajan Singh Dhawan
Meanwhile, former veteran spinner Harbhajan Singh said that he is very happy to see Dhawan making a spectacular comeback in the team. Harbhajan told Sports Tak, ‘I was very happy with the return of Shikhar Dhawan. The reason is that he is an experienced player and if you are comparing him to other players as young. So which player is batting at his level? So I am very happy to see Shikhar Dhawan back.

Dhawan scored two fifties in three innings of South Africa batting
Harbhajan further said that Dhawan hit two fifties in three innings of his batting in South Africa and he did his job for the team. He said, ‘On his return, he scored two half-centuries. India lost the match there. But he did his job. I don’t understand why people judge the age of certain players. But not others. There were also some players who were playing the World Cup at the age of 38, 39, 40.
Very impressed with Harbhajan Dhawan’s fitness
Harbhajan was quite impressed with Dhawan’s fitness and said that he still has a lot left to do as a cricketer. He said, ‘I find Shikhar Dhawan as young as Ishan Kishan at 37 years (36 years). His fitness is very good. If you say he can’t make a comeback at the age of 37, I think it would be wrong. I am very happy that he has come back and shown how much he has left.
