Albert Elbaz Body-Positivity Vision At Aster Manas As Factory

When Albert Elbaz died in April 2021 due to complications from Kovid-19. So just a few months after the AZ factory unveiled its first collection. Their new brand shape was embracing both inclusion and sustainability. Since his death, the Paris-based label has started with South African designer Thebe Magugu in April. It has recruited guest designers or “amigos” to further Elbaz’s vision of the future.

Belgian brand Ester Manas has made waves in the industry

Especially considering that body positivity is embedded in the DNA of both brands. “The AZ Factory is really about the body, and we do things the same way. Signatures of both AZ Factory and Aster Manas

Signatures of both AZ Factory and Aster Manas are immediately recognizable in the resulting capsule collection. The cut-outs ranged from the form-fitting dresses and sculpted shoulders seen at Elbaz’s debut for the brand. By the sheer paneling that the Belgian label is becoming increasingly known for. Bold injections of color also pay homage to Elbaz, while prints inspired by the depictions of food often seen in Renaissance art aim to spark conversation. “When we talk about inclusivity, being big and being fat in the fashion industry, it’s really hard to talk about food,” Manas explains.

Whereas inclusive size has been important for both the brands since inception. Aged factory pieces usually run from XXS to 4XL, Aster Manas has one size fits all. Manas continued, “We thought maybe we could reduce the size of the number to what we really needed.

It is the community they have built around themselves that will really stick with the pair. “When we worked with their designer, their pattern maker, we thought it was really emotional.
