Akiva Goldsman’s Weed Road in First-Look Warner Bros deal Focus is The Sequel to Constantine With Keanu Reeves

Akiva Goldsman is returning his Weed Road to Warner Bros. in a multi-year first-look deal. Weed Road President of Production Greg Leeson and Vice President Rachel Wijenberg has rejoined the company along with creative executive Shiva Nasab. Weed Road recently signed his film and TV deals at MGM.

He was joined by studio heads Michael De Luca and Pam Abdi, who from there moved into theatrical franchise production for Warner Bros. In a statement, Warner Bros. Pictures co-presidents De Luca and Abby called Goldsman “an outstanding producer, a brilliant writer, and a kind and generous human being. We have both known and worked with Akiva for years.” We are in awe of his combination of filmmaking subtlety and boundless imagination. We would thrilled to welcome him to the Warner Bros. family, where he has delivered some of the studio’s most successful and acclaimed projects over the past two decades.”

Warner the biggest part of my career

Goldsman reminds me that “the biggest part of my career was at Warners; I spent about 20 years or more. It’s a homecoming and I get to work with Mike and Pam and Jesse [Ehrman], who I’ve known since they started at Warner Bros.

Goldsman’s immediate attention

At a time when De Luca and AB are leaning on IPs that could play dramatically on a global scale. Goldsman’s immediate focus will be on two projects that are popping up at the studio. “We are starting with two projects that are fun and very Warner. So I’m coming out of the gate fast. We’re doing it with JJ Abrams, and Francis and Keanu and I are pretty deep in the story-breaking phase.
