A Shark Week-Branded Blimp Will Fly Over Virginia Beach This Independence Day Weekend.

A 128-foot-long, 44-foot-high blimp will pass through Virginia Beach before moving north along the East Coast as part of an advertising stunt for Discovery Channel’s popular Shark Week TV show. It is expected in the Hampton Roads area on Sunday and Monday, although the flight path may change depending on the weather.

Blimps traveling at speeds in excess of 50 mph and traveling approximately 250 miles per day

The blimp’s journey began in Nashville on Friday. It is expected to fly to Atlanta; Ocean City, Maryland; Jersey Shore; and Long Island, New York before returning to Nashville along the same flight path in late July.

The 34th year of Shark Week begins July 24 on Discovery Channel and Discovery+.
