14 Killed In Chennai Due To Rain

In Chennai, the situation is worsening due to incessant rains. So far 14 people have died due to rain in entire Tamil Nadu including Chennai. At present, people are not expected to get relief from the rains. The Tamil Nadu Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for many parts of the state. The Meteorological Department had predicted heavy rains in Tiruvallur, Chennai, Chengalpattu and Kancheepuram districts.

The life of people has been disturbed due to heavy rains in the capital Chennai. Many innocent lives were also lost in the devastation caused by heavy rains. The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert of heavy rain for November 11 in many districts of the state. Due to the rains, 90 ponds and lakes of the state have been completely filled. The local administration is engaged in relief and rescue operations and within the last 4 days, food items have been delivered to 20 lakh people in the city.

New airport closed till evening

Due to heavy rains in Chennai, the airport has been closed from 1.15 pm to 6 pm. Due to heavy rains, 13 subways in Chennai city have been flooded and hundreds of trees have fallen.

Almost the entire South Chennai region has suffered power outages mostly due to cable faults and feeder trapping. In many places, TANGEDCO has stopped service as a precaution.

People have been evacuated from many areas and low-lying areas of Chennai including Kolathur. Rescue boats, wood chopping machines and drilling machines have also been deployed along with the State Disaster Response Force.

Due to the rain accompanied by strong winds, trees have collapsed in many places. Chief Minister MK Stalin has also visited many affected areas.
