A sad incident has come to light from Assam. 10 people have lost their lives due to the accident of the vehicle of people returning from Chhath Puja after sitting in autorickshaw. The dead included 4 women and 2 children. The accident took place on the Assam-Tripura highway in Karimganj district of Assam.
The autorickshaw in which people were coming back to their homes after performing Chhath Puja collided with a cement-laden truck coming from the opposite side. The collision was so fierce that 9 people died on the spot and one died in the hospital.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa will give 1-1 lakh to the dead
The auto driver is also among those killed in the accident, the truck driver has fled after the accident and the police have started efforts to arrest him. All those killed in the accident are residents of Longai tea garden located in Patharkandi. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma condoled the accident and announced a compensation of Rs 1 lakh to the close relatives of those killed with immediate effect. The Chief Minister has also asked the local administration to get involved in relief work.

The accident happened due to the vehicle being out of control
According to the police, the local people told that the truck driver driving at high speed and on seeing the auto rickshaw coming in front, he lost control of his vehicle due to which the accident took place. Local people have also demonstrated demanding the arrest of the truck driver, but at present the truck driver is absconding.
